Family-owned and operated, Allegheny has been the acknowledged
world leader of the document and product destruction industry for over
40 Years. Founded in 1968, with tens of thousands of customers worldwide,
including the majority of the Fortune 1000, Allegheny is widely acknowledged
as the foremost expert in document and product destruction.
John
W. Wagner, founder and President of Allegheny, has been at the forefront
of the shredding industry since 1955. As the originator of high volume
paper shredders and shredding systems, Mr. Wagner has been instrumental
in virtually every major development in the industry, including the
revolutionary Auto-Feed System™, Allegheny’s high impact-resistant
T-18 tool steel cutters, and the industry’s first truly high-performance
complete destruction system—which currently offers capacities
over 25 tons per hour.
- The first
high volume paper shredder over 7 1/2 Hp. in the early 70’s.
- The original
Saw-tooth Cutter – aggressively pulls material into the
cutting
assembly, making the shredder much more productive.
- The Indestructible
T-18 Cutter – Our highest impact resistant tool steel. Designed
and milled only for Allegheny, this special steel withstands the heaviest
shock loads and the most abusive applications, essentially eliminating
cutter breakage. This special steel was developed by John Wagner in
collaboration with expert metallurgists.
- The first
Automatic Feeding System for high volume shredding systems –
this allows 1 operator to do the work of 2 or 3, reducing expensive
labor costs.
Allegheny
is the only company that manufactures all types of destruction equipment—High
Capacity Paper Shredders and Cross-Shredding Systems; Security Grinders;
Pierce & Shear Shredders; and Product Destruction Shredders. In
addition, Allegheny manufactures Horizontal Balers, Complete Destruction
Systems, and Mobile Shredding Systems. Allegheny also offers expert
consulting services to help establish or expand the success of a contract
shredding service.
A division
of Allegheny—Allegheny Records Destruction Service—has been
providing secure document destruction for southwest Pennsylvania since
1989. The facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art high volume shredding
system.
